About the game

What is Game of Minds?

Game of Minds is a two-player, turn-based tactics game on a 6×6 grid. You draft from ten champions, fight for board control, and race to capture the flag — but underneath all of it runs the mechanic the whole game is named for: one of your champions is secretly your captain, and if it falls, you lose.

That single rule turns every match into a bluffing game. Guarding your captain too obviously gives it away. Sending it into danger is madness — unless your opponent has ruled it out for exactly that reason. Power-ups and champion abilities layer on top, but the mind game is the heart.

GOM is being built by a three-person team — a game director, a designer, and a technical lead — and is headed to Steam. The spin-off games on this hub are how we share pieces of it while the full game comes together.

Picking the demo's achievements

We locked the achievement list for the demo this week. The goal was a set that teaches the game as you earn it — your first flag capture, your first successful captain bluff, and a few that only the truly devious will find.

More on the full launch list soon.

GOM now runs on Unity 6

The whole project has been migrated from Unity 2022 to Unity 6, and version control moved to Git with LFS. Boring on the surface, but it means faster builds, cleaner branches, and a much smoother road to the Steam demo.

Why the hidden captain changes everything

Every match of GOM is two games at once: the one on the board, and the one in your opponent's head. Your captain looks like any other champion — until it doesn't. Protecting yours while hunting theirs is where the real game lives.

We'll spotlight how each champion's kit plays into the mind game in upcoming posts.
